As spiritually conscious beings, we are blessed with an infinite wealth of spiritual wisdom, through personal experiences, to the written accounts of those that preceded us, to the inner world of our dreams. I recall many times when I laid my body down to rest and I, soul, was free to roam the dream worlds, freer than any bird on the wing. Often I would experience something amazing, and return with the most incredible "high". But it didn’t take long for the mind to snatch my joy away and bury me again in physical reality.
I was so bound to my humanness. All the freedom of the inner worlds was mine the moment I drifted off to sleep; and yet, in the physical world I was but a slave. I dreamed lives of wealth, power and courage, only to awaken in physical reality to little more than struggle and hunger; and I wondered how could life be so cruel. Until one day I awakened yet again, from physical reality to spiritual reality. I then realized that my mind was deceiving me, telling me that the dream was “only a dream” when it was in fact showing me my greater potential. I embraced the dream state as a new reality and have found in it spiritual wealth beyond measure. I’ve found that most incredible “high” again; and this time I’m not dreaming.
One of my favorite songs goes "How do you keep the music playing?" (James Ingram). All the wisdom in this world or any world cannot help me if I don't find ways to apply it to my daily experience. Moment-to-moment experience is the cement that holds my bits and pieces of wisdom together. If I don't find a practical way to apply wisdom gained, it dissipates and its's like I never knew it at all. So, how do I keep the music playing? I keep the music playing by continuing to sing the song. I find some practical way to incorporate the wisdom gained into my being. I use it to redefine my reality; and it becomes as indispensable to me as the air I breathe. “When wisdom gained is worn like a robe, a whole new level of wisdom unfolds...”
Love and Light.
